Poetry and Journaling Therapy Lynda LeBlanc, D.A. and Sharon Murphey, M.S. This meeting will give us the opportunity to explore our feelings about dystonia in a creative way while learning how we can use poetry and journaling as tools to deepen our understanding of ourselves.

Learning about Our Bodies and Structural Integration Rolfing
Kevin Lucas, CSPI, LMT, www.structuralinnovations.us
Rolfing is a massage techinique that works on the fascia, the envelope that surrounds the muscles. Kevin will give us a brief overview of how our skeletal structure, muscles, fascia, nerves and tendons all inter-relate. He will then demonstrate how structural integration rolfing helps our muscles to move more fluidly and give us relief.

Hydrotherapy
Dr. Bruce Becker
Dr. Becker is one of our nation's foremost authorities on hydrotherapy. Many patients in our support group have found water therapy to help them function better. Dr. Becker will help us understand why this can be a great therapy for patients with dystonia.

Psychological Aspects of Dystonia
Dr. Darrelle Volwiler, a Clinical Psychologist who specializes in Geropsychology and Behavioral Medicine, will help us recognize the styles of thinking that get in the way of feeling better both emotionally and physically. In this workshop-style meeting we will start to identify and practice new ways of thinking that are more adaptive and can reduce anxiety and depression.

Restorative Yoga

Yoga helps calm down our nervous system. Restorative yoga uses props to support our bodies while we do gentle yoga movements. This allows those of us with dystonia to experience the benefits of yoga without putting stress on our bodies.

Managing Pain
Kelli Pearson, DC, DABCO, Pearson-Weary Pain Relief Clinics
Dr. Pearson specializes in helping patients find relief from pain. She will help us understand how pain works and demonstrate some techniques showing how chiropractic manipulation can help those of us with dystonia.

Megan will teach us about botox and help us understand more fully how and why it has become the principal treatment for those of us with dystonia.

Meditation
Mary Webster, RN, www.spokanevipassana.com
Learning to focus is one of the best ways we can get through life with dystonia. Mary will lead us through several meditation excercises and discussions, helping us learn how to use the ancient practice. Mary leads a recollective awareness meditation group in Spokane and teaches psychiatric nursing at Washington State University, Spokane.
